Mt. Bierstadt here we come!
This is my first attempt at a "fourteener" as all the native Coloradoans like to call them.  If you are interested in more of them check out  www.14er.com, and they are all listed!

We started out the morning by meeting at Bob's house at 5:00am.  We had originally intended to hike Mt. Bross...

Hall Valley Hike
This week Randy I headed up to Hall Ranch.  It is a nice area in the foothills just outside of Lyons.  This trip I was planning on using the GPS to track our hike, and then was going to upload to www.activehikes.com, but before we got to the trail head the batteries had died.  Oh well!...

Heil Valley Ranch Hike
I went on my second hike in as many weeks yesterday.  It ended up being just me and Randy who went.  Which was fine, but it left us without a photographer and neither of us had cameras to take with us.  Luckily the world wide web is a wonderful place to find many many things, including pictures of hiking trails!...

Bear Lake to Grand Lake
ear lake to grand lake

This is Randy's official story of the second hike from Bear Lake to Grand Lake

Guys,

It was a great hike, the best.

I stepped off at 6:00 Saturday.  The 4.4 mi to flattop was easier without snow, snowshoes, or wind blown snow.  But it was still a pretty good hike, and it was cold.  I was glad I had my blue hat and some light gloves.  About 2/3 of the way up I was running out of gas so I took some of the famous “Kick Start”.  Not long after that I stopped to rest, still one good push from the top and you will never guess what is saw, well maybe Doug would guess.  Yip, it was a blue bird, electric blue, just dancing and flitting around like it was encouraging me on up to the top.   I got to the top and never saw it again.  (Doug, tell Marti thanks for the encouragement)....
